The Time
The year is 2050, 16 years after the events of Bubblegum Crisis/Conundrum. Mankind is under attack from the android forces of the Boomer Kingdom in orbit over the Earth. The attacks have forced mankind to live in large fortified city-arcologies, often underground. The conventional forces of the United Nations are ineffective against the awesome might of the Terror Boomers, 100 foot tall titans with the destructive power to level cities and decimate thousands. Earth's only hope lies in a small group of young men and women dedicated to fight the Terror Boomer threat on their own terms with giant mecha called Storm-Giants. To understand the present, however, it is important to understand the past. In the early 21st century, Dr. Katsuhiro Stingray developed a method of creating artificially intelligent cyberdroids using cloned human brain tissue. Though he was tragically killed in an explosion, his work lived on through the Genom Corporation, which gained control of his patents. The explosion of cyberdroid labor, called Boomers, was unheralded. Unfortunately, these new beings were being created with greater and greater levels of intelligence, not all of which was stable or benign. Incidents of rogue Boomers and Boomer criminals began to escalate and new police forces were hastily created in order to deal with these challenges. The new Boomer criminals were tough and strong, and the new Police Forces found it hard to compete. Soon, mysteriously, several groups of vigilantes wearing powerful body armor called "Hardsuits" emerged to fight these Boomers. And for a time, the threat from these superior Boomers seemed eliminated. Hardsuits eventually became common sights in various cities as the technology was slowly acquired by law enforcement and military agencies. It was discovered that Dr. Stingray himself, foreseeing the possible abuse of and by his creations, saw to the secret development of the Hardsuit technology before his death, and, not trusting the government, ensured secret teams of pilots in various cities to wield his weapons outside of "official" channels. But the yoke of slavery was a hard burden to bear for many Boomers. Beings created to be partners of mankind in the exploration of space found themselves the slave labor of mankind, bought and sold and owned like common robots. Some governments tried to alleviate the tension by allowing Boomers to gain freedom in certain circumstances, but this often led to even more complicated social problems. The issue became moot in 2041 when the Boomers led a revolt against their human masters in the orbiting space colonies above Earth. Since the population of the colonies were 90% Boomers, the revolt was swift and decisive, ending with the Boomers in control of the orbiting space weapons platform, capable of decimating any point on the Earth's surface with deadly precision and accuracy. The new Boomer Kingdom, as it declared itself, began a war of genocide against the surface. It began by using it's orbital weapons on major Earth cities such as New York, Mega-Tokyo, Sydney, Rio De Janeiro, Paris, and others. The United Nations response was swift. Transatmospheric fighters destroyed the orbiting satellites, eliminating the Boomer's main weapon. In retaliation, the Boomers landed an assault force of Battle Cyberdroids on Earth and eliminated Humanity's space launch facilities. Wave after wave of seemingly endless hordes of Boomer Troopers landed from space, fighting the United Nations in conventional warfare. Boomers were able to land their troops at any point on the Earth's surface, thought with one mind and will, and were able to create re-inforcements at a tremendous pace. For a while, the Boomers once again had the upper hand. But the humans slowly began to successfully fight back. New weapons were designed, armies of Hardsuits, Cyber-weapons, new technologies, all were used to finally turn the tide of the war. The UN was even in the process of building new launch facilities to take the war back to space. But then terror struck. The Boomers, seemingly near defeat, unleashed their most powerful weapon yet: The Terror Boomer. Nothing like them had ever been seen. Conventional weapons were useless against them. No army could stop them, no artillery could hurt them. Mankind was once again forced to the brink of near defeat. But a secret team of scientists and soldiers, led by Dr. Henry Thomas, a former colleague of Dr. Stingray, developed a weapon capable of fighting the Terror Boomers: The Storm-Giants. His son, Taylor, is assembling a team of fighters to pilot these war-machines. The team is named after the Vigilante Hardsuit Team his older sister fought and died in way back in 2034, the Dragon Knights. The Story Begins.. The Dragon Knights dealt a mighty blow to the Boomers reign of terror. Each new Terror Boomer assault was thwarted and turned back. Humans began to reclaim their world. One day, the Terror Boomers led an attack on a small high school in Cascadia. The Dragon Knights once again thwarted their attack and rescued a teenaged boy named Cal. It was learned that Cal was the son of Toy Tanaka and Iria, Queen of the Boomers. He was a hybrid Boomer-Human, capable of fusing and controlling not only machines and computers like a Boomer, but organic matter and human minds as well. It was obvious that he would be a very important asset to the Boomer Kingdom. The Dragon Knights took custody of the boy and protected him in their secret base. Things began to look bad for the team when it was discovered that covert messages were being sent from inside the base. The messages included the plans to construct a Dragon Knight. The Dragon Knights had a spy in their midst. Evidence led towards Eric Sork, the oldest and least liked of the team. When the tide of evidence turned against him and a warrant was issued for his arrest, Sork fled the base in the Dervish. His guilt was assured. Several members of the team organized a search for Sork, independent of the UN military search. When they found him, he was entering a Hou Bang hideout. He had apparently sold out to the Chinese Mafia, notorious for illegal arms manufacturing. Further evidence of his guilt. They notified Commander Maddox who informed them that he was sending the base's entire compliment of UN troops to kill Sork and that their orders are to terminate Sork immediately if he is found. This struck the team as odd behavior, so they decided to find Sork first. They raided the hideout and found a secret entrance to a sophisticated underground facility. Deep inside, they found and confronted Sork. He explained that he was innocent, and that he was being framed. He had fled to find the true traitor, whom he discovered was Wey Yo! He had infiltrated the Hou Bang hideout and found evidence to prove it. Wey Yo was a member of the Hou Bang and was sending plans to construct the Dragon Knights. What was worse, was that the Hou Bang had already constructed three of their own Storm Giants, the Long Wang (Dragon Kings), in this subterranean facility. They were disovered by Hou Bang guards and barely managed to escape. The Hou Bang mobilized the Long Wang to capture them. One on the surface, the team was confronted by the UN forces sent to terminate Sork and anyone that stood in their way. Taylor Thomas managed to talk the Lieutenant in charge into giving Sork a chance. He explained that Sork wasn't guilty and they had proof, and that Commander Maddox's orders were incongrous and illegal. He further explained that Hou Bang Dragon Kings were going to attack soon, and that they needed Sork in the Dervish (which Sork had hidden) to help fight them. The lietenant backed down and allowed Sork to leave with the team, who had to evade Long Wang fire in Matsura's car in the dowtown city streets while their Storm Giants were en route. When the mecha arrived, they Dragon Knights faced their most powerful foes yet. Three powerful mecha with a new technology based on giant-sized versions of Linna's Ribbon Cutters called "Shock Ribbons". When the battle ended, the Dragon Knights were victorious at the cost of the destruction of the Thunder and heavy damage sustained by all the Storm Giants. When they tried to contact the secret base, they met ominous silence. When they returned to the base, they were shocked and horrified to find in its place a smoking crater. The base had been destroyed by Terror Boomer attack. Wey Yo had disappeared in the Nightstorm, but even he wouldn't sell out to the Boomers. Only one conclusion could be reached: There wasn't one traitor, there were TWO! Commander Maddox had emptied the secret base of it's defensive UN troops, had shut down the defenses and cloaking field, leaving the base vulnerable to attack. Worse yet, Prof. Thomas, Toshi Nagata, and Cal Tanaka were all missing, presumably captured by the Boomers. The Story Continues... Following the destruction of the Dragon Knight's base, the UN assumed military control of the Storm Giants. The Dragon Knights, all civilian pilots except for Tomoro Steele, were dismissed and replaced with military pilots. Tomoro, who's presence was only allowed at the pressure of Commander Maddox, was sent back to military prison. Matsura continued college, despondent over the loss of her father. Taylor decided to join the UN military to help fight the Boomers. Nothing is known of Minnie Mae's whereabouts. Sork rejoined the Cascadia AD Police. The new team, however, was a disappointment. They faced loss after loss. The Boomer Kingdom had found a new resource in young Cal. They were able to apply his boomer hybrid technology/biology to new model boomers. These new hybrids became the new standard. Despite gaining a technological advantage over the Boomer's Kinetic Shielding through the use of Disruptor Weapons, the Terror Boomers became increasingly difficult to content with. The Boomers once again turned the tide of battle. The Boomers were able to take significant land holdings within the span of a few months. The entire continents of Europe, Africa, and Asia were taken by the Boomers and its human population put into slavery and concentration camps. Iria set up her capital in Geneva, Switzerland and built for herself a magnificient palace. The final failure for the new Dragon Knight team came in December 2050 when the Boomers attempted to invade North America through Los Angeles. The battle resulted in the destruction of the entire city and the loss of all the Dragon Knights. The UN military reevaluated their strategy. With the occupation of Europe, Africa, and Asia, they needed an offensive strategy. They decided to reform the civilian Dragon Knights. This time, they'd be based on a new prototype submarine carrier, the Tiger Shark. Their mission is changed to infiltration and offensive strikes. Their goal is to topple the Boomer hold on the Eastern Hemisphere. The new team will be equipped with hardsuits and mecha designed by General Mackie Stingray himself. The new mecha will lack Barrier Fields altogether, the development of Disruptor Weapons on both sides making them obsolete. They will take the fight to the enemy, and liberate mankind. They are the last hope humanity has.. |
