Toshi Nagata-Sensei

Toshi Nagata-Sensei is the mecha-combat trainer for the group. His job is to maintain combat readiness and physical and mential preparedness in the Dragon Knight team.

In his youth, Nagata-Sensei was a covert operative for the Genom Corporation, the corporation responsible for creating the Boomers. It was his job to eliminate competition to Genom's monopoly through dirty tricks, sabotage, and assassination. After his daughter, Matsura was born, he began to grow weary of his profession. It was when he discovered that many of his human friends were being replaced by Boomer operatives that he decided to retire. Genom, however, does not let it's operatives retire, however. Genom's boomer assassins kidnapped his wife and would have captured him too if he hadn's escaped with his infant daughter.

Nagata-Sensei then devoted his life to fighting Genom and it's Boomers and finding and freeing his wife. He was a member of the original Dragon Knights and helped to bring down Genom and its subsidiaries. Little is known of Nagata-Sensei's life after this. It is known that he fought in the Boomer War of Independence and he received a crippling injury in that war. It is also believed that he, at some point, worked with the CMA ADPolice and had a falling out with Rick Kulland, though details are sketchy.

Throughout his military and combat experience, he has raised his daughter to one day fight at his side. When other young girls went to Kindergarten, Toshi was training Matsura to fight. While other girls her age were going to Prom, Matsura was studying katas under her father's tutelage. Toshi has always hoped that someday his daughter would live up to his legacy. He is somewhat dismayed at her Americanization, but grudgingly accepts her independence and is secretly very proud of her.

Now Nagata-Sensei must walk with a cane, a result of his injury. He is unable to pilot the mecha himself, though he longs to do so. He has given up on finding his wife alive, and has turned his attention to avenging her death.
